Bystander intervention—action taken by individuals who witness warning signs or other indicators of potential harm to prevent or interrupt violence—is critical to effective targeted violence prevention. This one-hour training will clarify the difference between warning signs and leakage in order to help practitioners refine bystander education efforts. It will also outline promising practices for increasing bystander intervention, including guidance for educating community members and overcoming common barriers that prevent people from reporting concerning behaviors.
